At the same time we also applied for permission to build an education centre that could be used for field trips by school, college, university and adult education students.
We further applied for permission to build twenty eight holiday lodges. Twenty would be sold to fund the barn and education centre and the remainder would be let as holiday homes giving us an income to support the birds of prey centre and animal park.
We eventually obtained permission for all three projects and the first lodge has now been built. Our plans for the centre are ambitious but they have been thoroughly thought out so as not to have a negative impact on the countryside or the wildlife. We have consulted with Cornwall Wildlife Trust, Natural England, The Environment Agency, Acorn Ecology and South West Water, and we will continue to do so through each stage of the development.
